Pour lancer dignement les hostilités, nous sommes allés chercher l'une des figures de proue de la House Music de Chicago en la personne de Roy Davis Jr., véritable pionnier du genre à l'affolante carrière et disc jockey hors pair.

Il faudrait bien plus d'un petit encart sur un événement Facebook pour restituer avec fidélité l'immense CV de Roy Davis Jr.
Né en Californie mais élevé dés son plus jeune âge à Chicago, c'est dans les rues de la windy city qu'il pose les premières pierres de sa future carrière aux côtés d'artistes comme Lil Louis Official Fan Page ou DJ Pierre, avec lequel il collabore au sein du projet Phuture.
Roy Davis Jr prend ensuite le chemin de New York pour devenir A&R au sein du mythique Strictly Rhythm et créé en parallèle son propre label, Underground Therapy sur lequel on trouve notamment des artistes comme Paul Johnson ou Brian Harden.
Avec plus d'une centaine de références à sa gigantesque discographie, Roy Davis Jr fait partie de ces rares artistes à qui l'on pourrait décemment attribuer l'étiquette de pionnier lorsque l'on évoque le son House 90's de Chicago. L'artiste compte d'ailleurs quelques succès retentissant comme "Who Dares To Believe in Me" sorti sur Strictly Rhythm en 1994, "All I Do" paru sur FXHE (label fondé par Omar-S) et bien sûr "Gabrielle", tube planétaire composé avec Peven Everett qui se vendit à plus de 200 000 exemplaires.
Autant le dire, c'est bien un morceau d'histoire que nous aurons la chance de recevoir ce vendredi 16 Septembre derrière le booth du DJOON et il serait bien dommage de ne pas venir se cultiver un peu :)

Sapajou aka Simon Hamel est le co-fondateur du collectif et Dj en son sein. Nourri au jazz dés ses plus tendres années, l’évolution logique de ses penchants musicaux était de se tourner vers la black music sans véritables frontières de genre. De la soul aux musique électroniques, ses sets sont résolument inspirés par la production outre atlantique avec un amour non dissimulé pour la scène de Chicago. Entre Ron Trent et Anthony Nicholson ou Ron Hardy et Rahaan selon les humeurs, Sapajou aime construire des sets éclectiques ou Deep et Disco s’entremêlent joyeusement.
