Tous les matins, les pauvres âmes perdues de la citadelle se retrouvent à la même heure et s’installent à leurs sièges dédiés. La même mélodie monotone ponctue chaque journée, retentissant dans les mégaphones de la Grande Place pour leur divertissement.
Chacun à sa place, évitant le regard de l’autre et se concentrant avec avidité sur le carré lumineux encastré dans sa paume. De temps à autre, un clown se démène traversant les rangs, il s’arrache les cheveux, se fracasse la tête contre le sol avec ardeur, déchire ses vêtements afin de réveiller les pantins affalés et absents. Certaines têtes se relèvent parfois et les yeux vides regardent avec un vague amusement ses grimaces hideuses. D’autres applaudissent sans regarder.
La nuit ce sont les enfants sauvages qui règnent sur les paysages bétonnés désertiques de cette ville. Le cœur pur, les mains sales, ils escaladent chaque soir les remparts jusqu’au temple abandonné. Après avoir arpenté les ruines à la recherche des derniers vestiges de la créativité d’antan, ils collectionnent les rares disques, cassettes, cd, qu’ils tentent d’immortaliser lors de leurs cérémonies nocturnes. Oubliés, débordants de vie, ils partagent ensemble le dernier trésor qui leur est autorisé, refusant tant qu’ils le pourront les débuts de rides qui creuseront progressivement leurs visages.
Les paroles d’un ancien hymne urbain résonnent ce soir entre les murs des pierres froides vétustes, que ces survivants ont recouvert de vieux papiers, mystérieux souvenirs des célébrations de générations passées.
