Un groupe d'amis de longue date a pour habitude de jouer tous les mois au même jeu, dans le même PMU, lieu emblématique de leur amitié.
Ils organisent une soirée et Georges, rencontré à la fac, y est invité. Alors qu'il passe prendre un paquet de cigarettes à ce fameux PMU, il surprend une conversation dans laquelle il apprend que quelqu'un du groupe a gagné. Il s'empresse de rejoindre l'appartement où tous sont déjà présents.
