XIXème siècle, la peinture contemporaine est viciée.
La France change de civilisation. L’Académie des Beaux Arts lui trouve une nouvelle histoire et renoue avec l’antique ; les idées se peignent et le réel s’enfuit dans les vapeurs d’absinthe.
C’est l’histoire d’un peintre qui, sous la lumière de Provence, retrouve la vue.
De la race des Anciens, il va décrocher la Sainte Victoire et placer dans les Musées le dépôt de la Beauté.
Pour voir quelque chose, il nous faut d’abord réapprendre à regarder. Alors Cézanne nous montre comment regarder la lumière.
